Toddler rule: 1 minute of car sleep = 1 hour of bed sleep #math

Toddler rule:  1 minute of car sleep = 1 hour of bed sleep #math  (courtesy of Honest Toddler)

And so began my afternoon.  After packing up the boys in the Jeep to drop Pat off for a Bachelor party (....at 11:30 am), Colin and Jack took a luxurious 10 minute nap.  Of course, upon returning home and parking the car in the driveway both immediately alerted to attention, abandoning any hope for a few minutes of quiet solitude on my part.

Colin only takes a nap if you nap with him (thanks a lot Pat...), and Jack is desperately afraid to "miss" anything if he naps.  So he fights the power and stays awake until his 22lb, 95th percentile self crashes in a fit of tears and thumb-sucking.

So I took the approach that any over-achieving "mom of the year" applicant would take:

Let's just wear them down, and tire them out. So they go to bed early.

You don't want to nap?
Fine by me.
Game on.

And thirty seconds later, swim trunks were on, and the water table was set up.

This counts as a bath, right?

Splash!

I have a soft spot for floppy hats

Let's spray Jack!
Seriously Colin? You really want to go there?

And the result?

Mom - 1, Beirne Boys - 0.

Jack was in bed by 6:10, Colin by 7:15.

And I enjoyed a bottle of Apothic White on the patio, and then two Miller Lites when my husband rolled in around 10 from his bachelor party.
